After much discussion and debate, the Detroit City Council has decided to move our neighborhood from District 2 to District 3. This decision was made during their meeting on February 6, where they voted in favor of "Option 6," the last requested council redistricting map option that creates the least amount of change while still meeting the redistricting requirements for population distribution.
While we are disappointed that our neighborhood will no longer be a part of District 2, we understand that the new districts will take effect on January 1, 2026, after new city council members have been elected based on the new districts in November 2025.
We want to assure you that we fought hard to remain in District 2 and voiced our opposition to being removed during public hearings and other meetings. However, the decision has been made, and we must now look forward to working with our new council members in District 3.
We will keep you updated on any further developments and encourage you to stay informed and engaged in the process. If you have any questions or concerns, below you will find contact information for districts 2 and 3.
